Wynn-Williams to chair Thomas Miller
Thomas Miller, managers of the UK P&I Club and the
TT Club, elected Hugo Wynn-Williams Chairman of Thomas Miller Holdings Ltd at
its Annual General Meeting on 4th June.
Previously Deputy Chairman of Thomas Miller, Mr.
Wynn-Williams succeeds Peter Donnellan who had been Chairman since 2006. Mr
Donnellan remains on the board continuing as the leader of Thomas Miller's risk
management and captive business based in Bermuda.
Mr Wynn-Williams has worked in the management of the
UK P&I Club throughout his career at Thomas Miller, becoming CEO of Thomas
Miller P&I in 2004. He will continue in this position for the UK Club. He
was elected to the former partnership of Thomas Miller in 1989 and has been on
the holdings board of Thomas Miller since incorporation in 1999. He has been
its Deputy Chairman since 2006. He is the current chairman of the Reinsurance
Sub-Committee of the International Group of P&I Clubs.
Mr Wynn-Williams is looking forward to the challenge
of supporting the teams running Thomas Miller's world class businesses. "Our
role is to provide a professional first class service in as cost effective a
way as possible.
"Last year our transport clubs had a premium income of
US$730 million and provided insurance to almost every type of business in the
international transport chain. We also have an outstanding group of
professional indemnity firms."
He explained that the past year had been very
difficult for clients and the members of the Thomas Miller managed mutuals.
However, during last year's turmoil, Thomas Miller's investment management
services successfully managed the US$1.8 billion funds of its mutuals so that
major investment losses were avoided.
At the same time, it substantially increased the total
funds under management to US$4 billion, mainly through acquiring a portfolio of
business from Singer & Friedlander Investment Management (Isle of Man).
This has widened its range of clients to private individuals, trusts and other
institutions.
