Three naming ceremonies in one week for Rickmers
Reederei
Over a four-day period last month, the Hamburg based
Rickmers Group celebrated the naming ceremonies of three newbuilding
containerships in Asia.
On 9 January, the German company named two vessels out
of a series of 20, which it ordered from Dalian Shipbuilding.
In a double naming ceremony by Mrs Vicki Rickmers,
wife of the Chairman of the Rickmers Group, Mr Bertram R C Rickmers, and Mrs
Maja Stadler-Euler, a friend of Mrs Rickmers, the 4250TEU vessels were
christened Vicki Rickmers and Maja Rickmers respectively.
The third vessel, Moni Rickmers, was named on
12 January in Ulsan, South Korea. Built by Hyundai Mipo, this 3500TEU
containership was christened by Mrs Francisca Perez Cotapos Mittelbach, wife of
the Managing Partner of the Rickmers Group, Dr Moritz Mittelbach.
The Rickmers Group has announced that it has already
eight-year fixed charter parties for all three vessels. With the delivery of
this trio, the group fleet consists of 81 vessels with a total deadweight of
more than 2.5 million tons. A further 40 vessels are under construction.
