25 September 2008: Polaris Shipmanagement, a Rickmers Group company, now has a total of eight Superflex Mumbai Max Class multipurpose heavylift vessels on order. All will be chartered to Rickmers Line. These, plus a further ten vessels of between 17,000dwt and 19,000dwt now under construction, means Rickmers Linie now has 18 newbuildings in China that will be deployed on its global liner services.
1 July 2008: A computer-generated image depicting one of Rickmers-Linie's new 24,000dwt multi-purpose heavylift vessels discharging onto a barge whilst at anchor offshore. 18 February 2008: Rickmers Linie has chartered the 30,000dwt Cape Darby to operate on its Pearl String service alongside its nine existing vessels, thus improving sailing frequency. The photograph shows the vessel as it will appear when it enters service in June/July 2008 as Rickmers Houston.
14 January 2008: Rickmers is now a shareholder in the Terminal San Giorgio in Genoa. The vessel with the grey hull is Rickmers Doha. 17 January 2008: Rickmers Seoul, employed in Rickmers’ Round-The-World Pearl String Service, loaded 26 fire-fighting trucks with destination Vietnam at the DP World Breakbulk Terminal in Antwerpen at the beginning of January.
