Rickmers-Linie selects Tioga Marine as its new
terminal in Philadelphia
Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg-based specialist in the
global transportation of breakbulk, heavylift and project cargo, has announced
that its vessels will be calling at Tioga Marine Terminal in Philadelphia for
both loading and discharging as from 1 January 2008.
The multi-purpose terminal is operated by Delaware
River Stevedores, Inc in Philadelphia. It boasts six berths with 38ft (11.5m)
water depth and a total quay length of 3800ft (1100m), supported by ample
storage capacity totalling 96 acres (39 hectares) of paving combined with
covered storage areas. Its broad range of modern handling equipment includes
quay cranes lifting up to 45 tons each or up to 80 tons in twin operation, a
fleet of forklift trucks with a lifting capacity of up to 50 tons each,
container spreaders for cranes, forklift trucks and special terminal trailers
capable of carrying heavy and oversized cargo.
