Rickmers-Linie, Gavio and Finterminal in partnership
at Terminal San Giorgio in Genoa
Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg based specialist for
breakbulk, heavylift and project cargoes, Gavio SpA and Finterminal, a daughter
company of the Scerni Group, are joining forces in the port of Genoa.
Rickmers-Linie has acquired a 12.5% shareholding in the Terminal San Giorgio
(TSG), effective 1 January 2008.
The Terminal San Giorgio is located at the "Ponte
Libia" in the western part of the port of Genoa and comprises a total area of
79,550m2 with a quay length of 550m.
Rickmers-Linie vessels are regular callers at the
terminal, with sailings of the company's dedicated service to the Middle East
and Indian Subcontinent every third week and fortnightly departures to South
East Asia and the Far East within the "Round-The-World Pearl String
Service".
"We are pleased that the Rickmers Group has joined the
other partners of Terminal San Giorgio - Genoa", said P G Raimondi, Chairman of
TSG. "Rickmers-Linie has been our most important supporter since the beginning
of our operations. We are sure we will be able to meet Rickmers' requirements
as the line expands its worldwide services calling at the port of Genoa."
Jan B Steffens, President & CEO of Rickmers-Linie,
added:
"We are very satisfied with this intensified
cooperation in Genoa. Together with our partners, we are now able to develop
and offer value added services to our customers at TSG."
"We are now holding shares in all three of the
terminals in Europe we serve on a regular basis. We have thus secured for
ourselves, and even more importantly for our customers, access to handling
capacity in these ports for the cargoes carried on our vessels."
