Fleet of Kalmar terminal tractors to Port of Salalah
in Oman
Cargotec's Kalmar business area has been awarded a
contract to supply 42 Ottawa 4x2 terminal tractors for the expansion of the
Port of Salalah, located in the southern region of Oman. The equipment will be
delivered to Port of Salalah by the end of this year.
The Port of Salalah is one of the fastest-growing
terminals in West Central Asia. It is situated on the rim of the Indian Ocean,
on a shipping route between Asia and Europe. The port is undertaking a major
expansion project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2011,
raising the port's capacity to 9 million TEU per year.
Kalmar's Ottawa terminal tractors will service the
quayside operation with Post-Panamax Gantry Cranes. The main features of Kalmar
tractors are a big tractive effort, good manoeuvrability and reliability based
on first class components, long experience and close collaboration with Kalmar
customers.
This model is a reliable and robust container yard
tractor and comes equipped with the cleanest in engine standards with an EU
Stage 3A / Tier III engine, emitting only the minimum in harmful emissions. The
order also includes an initial stock of spare parts.
Graham Boxall, Sales Director for the Middle East
Region, Kalmar Industries, said:
"Kalmar's decision to open a regional office
in Dubai this year to provide closer customer support is bearing good results.
We are physically much closer now to our customers and they certainly
appreciate that."
