17 November 2008:Kalmar's terminal tractors, already well established as the robust workhorse of the global container terminal industry, are becoming increasingly popular in the Middle East and Africa. 17 November 2008:Kalmar is supplying a fleet of 42 of its Ottawa 4x2 terminal tractors to the Port of Salalah in Oman.
11 November 2008: Tilbury Container Services has ordered six Kalmar 7th generation ESC W straddle carriers and has specified that one of them should be equipped with Kalmar’s new Pro Future™ hybrid technology package, as fitted on the machine shown here. The other five are capable of being upgraded at a later date. 3 November 2008: Kalmar RT Center, LLC (KRTC) has been awarded a new 5-year contract to supply its Rough Terrain Container Handler (RTCH) to the US Department of Defence.

22 OCTOBER 2008: Port of Gothenburg has asked Kalmar to supply its container terminal operations with empty container handling capacity for the next three years. 20 August 2008:"Gateway Terminals India will supplement its busy container operations at the Port of Jawaharlal Nehru with additional cranes from Kalmar, this time ordering 11 of the latest green and productive E-One+ RTG cranes."
21 July 2008: With plans to expand its Cape Town Container Terminal operation, South African terminal operator TPT has ordered 32 Kalmar E-One+ RTGs - an agreement made on the heels of TPT's numerous requests this year for Kalmar cranes and straddle carriers. 11 July 2008:One of Colombia's busiest terminal operators, Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Cartagena, has ordered from Kalmar 30 terminal tractors, seven E-One+ RTGs, and five reachstackers for its new Contecar terminal in Cartegena, further strengthening the two parties' longstanding partnership.

13 June 2008:The first Kalmar post-Panamax STS crane for Vuosaari was shipped out from Cargotec's Rotterdam manufacturing facility at the end of May. The main components included the portal and the upperstructure, weighing 450 and 750 tonnes respectively. 28 May 2008:Rising energy costs and the need for productive, cost-efficient handling solutions prompted Kalmar to launch its next generation of 5 to 9 tonne all-electric forklifts. The new ECF-series boasts AC motor technology and an electronic control system which equals longer working cycles, enhanced driving characteristics and less maintenance.

16 May 2008:The purpose-built and modern design of Kalmar's new distribution tractor, TT612d, makes it a sure win against the busiest of trailer transfer operations. 8 May 2008:Kalmar received an order for 30 CSC440 straddle carriers from South Africa's Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) for its operations at Durban Container Terminal in the Port of Durban. The new units are in addition to the more than 140 straddle carriers Kalmar has delivered to TPT's container terminals in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
7 May 2008:Booming Mediterranean ports continue to invest in their container handling capacities with more orders for Kalmar's reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly all-electric E-One RTG cranes. 25 April 2008:The second version of Kalmar's Remote Machine Interface, a tool for remote machine monitoring, maintenance tasking and reporting, features a new, easy-to-use graphical user interface.
22 April 2008: Kalmar employees recently celebrated the 45,000th terminal tractor produced at its Ottawa, Kansas facility. To ensure promised efficiency levels, Kalmar will deploy three new Kalmar RTD 1623 logstackers (pictured)."

18 March 2008: Proving the value of long-term partnerships, South Africa's Transnet Ltd recently placed an order for 22 E-One+ RTGs for its new terminal operations at the Port of Ngqura. Daughter company Transnet Port Terminals employs a vast range of Kalmar equipment at its terminal operations in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth including 18 E-One RTG cranes (pictured), reachstackers and more than 140 Kalmar straddle carriers. 17 March 2008:A new order from Hanjin Shipping for 96 Kalmar terminal tractors was celebrated by both parties during a signing ceremony in Busan, Korea. The units will be deployed across Hanjin Shipping's four berths as part of the second phase in the development of its Pusan New Port terminal operations opening in 2009. 13 March 2008: The availability of five 7th generation Kalmar ESC 350 W straddle carriers operating at the Port of Oslo is now the responsibility of Kalmar, according to a comprehensive five-year service contract agreed to by Finnsteve, the parent company of the Port's terminal operator, Norsteve Oslo. Kalmar will provide the units with preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs due to normal wear and tear. 4 March 2008: As shown in the photograph, Steveco Oy currently employs several 1-over-2 high Kalmar straddle carriers at Finland's Port of Kotka. The port operator recently opted for 10 new Kalmar 1-over-3 high EDRIVE® straddle carriers, a flexible alternative to cost-effectively adding more storage capacity.

26 February 2008: The Port of Tacoma has ordered seven 7th generation Kalmar CSC 340 straddle carriers for its on-dock rail operation, further extending the two parties’ partnership spanning more than 20 years.

6 February 2008: Kalmar makes its debut in the Benelux concrete industry with a rental agreement from Martens Beton for 14 forklifts with lifting capacities ranging from five to 12 tonnes. The duration of the contract is 60 months and covers each machine for 1,500 running hours.
