E-One+ receives orders from Europe and South
America
Kalmar's all-electric E-One+ rubber-tyred gantry (RTG)
crane, launched this summer, has received an enthusiastic reception from the
market, with orders for five units from Gemport in Turkey and two units from
ENAPU in Peru. Both customers have opted to outfit their cranes with Kalmar's
Smartrail® autosteering and container position verification system.
The E-One+ features a number of design improvements
over its predecessor - the industry's favourite green RTG E-One, introduced to
the market in 2005 - which contribute to enhanced overall quality, easier
maintenance and faster assembly on site.
Gemport will next year take delivery of five 7+1 wide,
1-over-5 high units, which will also come equipped with Remote Machine
Interface (RMI) for machine monitoring, maintenance tasking and reporting. Due
for delivery by June 2008, the RTGs will have a 40 ton lifting capacity.
Commenting on Gemport's decision to purchase Kalmar's
E-One+, Assistant General Manager Avni Cincin said:
"The E-One+ is the most advanced RTG
available on the market, cementing Kalmar's position as one of the global port
industry's preferred suppliers. Kalmar offered us fast delivery times and were
happy to provide machines tailored to our specific needs. All this, combined
with the reputable service of Kalmar's Turkish dealer, made the decision very
easy for us.
"We are confident that Kalmar RTGs will play
a key role in our future port automation system, which will be the first of its
kind in Turkey."
Strategically located on the South East Coast of the
Marmara Sea in northwest Turkey, Gemport is already a Kalmar customer,
operating reachstackers and forklifts at its Gemlik Port & Warehousing
facility. The container facility comprises eight berths and has an annual
handling capacity of 200,000TEU.
Moving to South America, ENAPU in Peru has ordered two
6+1 wide, 1-over-5 high units, which will each have a 50 ton lifting capacity.
They will also come equipped with the Smartrail® auto steering and
container position verification system. Due for delivery in October 2008, the
RTGs will enter operations at ENAPU's Terminal Portuario Del Callao (TPC).
Kalmar's E-One+ receives positive improvements
The E-One+ incorporates new features that improve overall quality,
facilitate maintenance and expedite the final assembly process. The relocation
of key components, such as the emergency hoist stop sensor and spreader cable
connection box, makes them more easily accessible for maintenance purposes.
Moreover, technicians have access to the cabin and trolley via a system of
stairs that have been designed at an angle of less than 45 degrees for
convenience and safety.
The E-One+ also features maintenance-free propeller
shafts that require no greasing, while faster maintenance of hoist ropes is
made possible by a small, trolley-mounted winch designed to lift the ropes from
ground to trolley level for servicing or replacement.
Many E-One+ components have been adjusted and
redesigned to expedite connections during the erection process, affording the
customer greater flexibility in managing operations.
