Evergreen Line
Since the purchase of his first ship in 1968, Dr Chang
Yung-fa has built the Evergreen Group into a major international organisation,
whose affiliate companies are engaged in shipping and port operations,
aviation, road transport, the hotel industry and a variety of service-oriented
activities. The original company, Evergreen Marine Corporation
(Taiwan), was, over the years, joined by a number of affiliates to form one of
the largest container shipping groups in the world. As of 1 May 2007, in
response to the request and expectations of global customers, this shipping
group adopted a unified common trade name, "Evergreen Line", for international
marketing purposes. Evergreen Line operates the fourth largest container fleet
in the world, with over 150 ships with a capacity of approximately 560,000 TEU.
The high-volume routes operated by Evergreen Line provide
comprehensive links between North America, Asia and Europe, as well as services
encompassing Africa, Australia, South America and the Red Sea. Feeder services
extend Evergreen Line's reach into hundreds of minor ports around the world,
while intermodal transportation by road, rail and river barge take its
containers far inland, directly to customers' premises.
Evergreen Line offers one of the most extensive intra-Asia
networks available and has for three consecutive years been voted Shipping Line
of the Year - Intra Asia at the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards.
