The Latvian forwarder Spedair is renamed Greencarrier Latvia following its acquisition by Greencarrier International 12 months ago

The Latvian transportation and freight forwarding company Spedair, which was acquired by the Gothenburg-headquartered logistics specialist Greencarrier International in September 2008, has been renamed Greencarrier Latvia. The company began trading as Greencarrier Latvia on 9 September 2009.

Spedair was established in 1998 and is based in Riga, Latvia. The company has subsidiaries in Kiev, Ukraine, and Minsk, Belarus, and has a worldwide network of agents.

Spedair has enabled Greencarrier International to strengthen its position in Eastern Europe and the Baltic region, providing air, road, ocean and rail freight forwarding, multi-modal transportation, warehousing and storage services, and customs brokerage services.

Renaming the company will take this process an important step forward, explains Niklas Olsson, Managing Director and CEO of Greencarrier International:

"Spedair has enabled us to expand our operations significantly and we feel now is the right time to re-brand the company, so taking the Greencarrier name into new market areas. It will also emphasise the fact that shipments entrusted to our care are under Greencarrier's control from door to door. We are providing a one-stop shop product with a single contact point for the customer."

Within Riga International Airport, Greencarrier Latvia has a multifunctional cargo terminal that includes an open bonded warehouse.

Greencarrier International is the logistics arm of the Gothenburg-based Björk.Eklund Group, one of Sweden's largest privately owned logistics and transportation companies.

Note to Editors:

For those publications that like to incorporate company logos with their news stories, please note that Greencarrier International has itself undergone a recent re-branding, which has included dropping the capital 'C' in its name, the company having previously been styled GreenCarrier International. This and the use of a new logo, shown at the head of this release, became effective 7 September. A jpeg of the new logo is available on the Dunelm website www.dunelmpr.co.uk and from info@dunelmpr.co.uk on request.
