GreenCarrier acquires Corneel Geerts International
Transport Sverige AB
The Gothenburg-headquartered logistics specialist
GreenCarrier has acquired Corneel Geerts International Transport Sverige AB,
the Swedish subsidiary of Transportgroup Corneel Geerts, which is headquartered
in Belgium. No financial details have been released.
The Corneel Geerts operation in Sweden has an annual
turnover of approximately SKr 40 million and operates trailer services to and
from the Benelux, France and the UK. Around 10,000 full loads were handled in
the past 12 months.
According to Niklas Olsson, Managing Director of
GreenCarrier Scandinavia AB, this move will broaden the range of services
GreenCarrier can offer its customers:
"With the acquisition, we will immediately
gain a strong foothold in parts of Europe where, previously, we were only a
minor player. We have signed an agency agreement with Corneel Geerts in Belgium
and we intend to build upon the existing business in a smooth and progressive
way.
"As part of the Bjork.Eklund Group,
GreenCarrier has access to a large customer base and strong IT capabilities. We
are confident that our traffic volumes on these new routes will develop
rapidly."
Mr Olsson continued:
"We have identified large areas of synergy
that will benefit our customers directly. For GreenCarrier customers, we will
be offering more capacity and a wider selection of destinations by road while
Corneel Geerts' customers will have access to a broader network of offices and
ancillary services throughout Sweden."
GreenCarrier has offices in Gothenburg, Helsingborg,
Karlstad, Linköping, Stockholm, Skellefteå, Luleå and Oslo as
well as fast-growing links with the Baltic States, Russia and other former
Eastern European countries. In 2006, it moved into China, opening offices in
Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The four people employed by Corneel Geerts in Sweden
are expected to transfer to GreenCarrier's office in Gothenburg by April.
